Bear Divide Hotshots
Los Angeles National Forest; US Department of Agriculture
The Bear Divide Hotshots are a Type 1 handcrew with 20 firefighters specially trained in wildfire suppression tactics. Their extensive training, high physical fitness standards, and ability to undertake difficult, dangerous and stressful assignments prove their excellence. They primarily operate out of the Angeles National Forest, responding to large, high-priority fires and are trained and equipped to work in remote areas for extended periods of time with little logistical support. However, the Hotshots are an interagency resource and can be requested to respond to wildland fire incidents in any jurisdiction.
While not fighting fires, Bear Divide Hotshots typically work to manage forest resources such as thinning, prescribed fire operations, trail construction and habitat improvement.
